17th November 2009, National City, California - Knight & Carver Wind Group, a blade repair, service and fabrication firm has entered into a long-term service agreement with GCube the largest provider of insurance services for renewable energy initiatives. The agreement dramatically reduces the amount of time during which a wind turbine is considered inoperative and is taken offline and presents significant cost savings for wind farm developers and investors in the future.
Under the terms of the agreement, GCube's loss adjustment and engineering team will work directly with Knight & Carver to dispatch blade inspectors and provide an initial, on site diagnosis within 48-hours. This initial analysis, ahead of a formal report that includes photos, analysis and repair estimates, provides valuable, first hand feedback that helps fast track the repair, whilst handling the operation in the most cost effective and efficient manner.
"We're pleased to join GCube in this joint venture to provide this valuable, time-sensitive service," said Gary Kanaby, Knight & Carver's Vice President of Sales. "This is another example of our commitment to join with the best service providers in the industry."
"As wind turbine technology continues to rise up the international energy agenda, investors are increasingly keen to capitalise on a rapidly expanding renewables market," added Fraser McLachlan, Chief Executive Officer, GCube. "However, in order to safeguard the credibility of the industry, it's imperative that wind farms provide a consistent and reliable source of energy to the grid.
"Turbine downtime can and does play an important role in influencing future investment decisions and its imperative that this inoperability is managed and mitigated against, whenever possible. The agreement with Knight & Carver marks an important milestone in the evolution of the industry and we look forward to working with them in the future."
The agreement between Knight & Carver and GCube, is effective immediately and covers the North American market.
