GCUBE INVESTS IN RENEWABLE ENERGY TECHNICIANS OF TOMORROW

Latest donation from renewable energy insurer provides key learning aide to US wind energy students

Newport Beach, California, 6th October, 2009 - GCube, the leading insurer for renewable energy initiatives, today announces that it has donated a Mitsubishi turbine nacelle valued at $450,000 to the Laramie County Community College in Cheyenne, Wyoming. The donation forms a key part of a long-term company initiative to support future growth within the international renewable energy markets and is understood to be the first scheme of its kind within North America and Europe.

The donated components are sourced from equipment that is either classified as damaged or beyond economic repair. Parts donated to date include, turbine blades, rotor hubs and turbine nacelles. As part of the initiative the donated components are installed in pre-selected technical colleges, to enable engineering students to enhance their understanding of wind turbine technology.

"Under the Obama administration, the longevity of renewable energy schemes has been assured. Washington's financial incentives can only support the future of the North American wind market to a point, however, and it's therefore imperative that industry participants play their part," said Pat Stumbras, Senior Vice President, GCube North America.

"As a result of existing relationships with a number of engineering colleges throughout the US, our donations continue to provide valuable hands-on experience for the wind energy engineers of tomorrow."

Mike Schmidt, Wind Energy Technology Program Director at Laramie County Community College said: "We launched the Wind Energy Technician Program at LCCC to provide highly skilled graduates for the renewable energy industry.

The donations made under the scheme are invaluable to providing our students with a first class training experience. The opportunity for them to develop their skills on the equipment they will be working on in the future is critical."

The scheme was launched in 2008 and donations to date have totalled in excess of several million USD.
