GCube Launches Wind and Solar Worker’s Compensation Program

July 19, 2011, New York & London – GCube, the leading provider of insurance services for renewable energy projects, working in partnership with International Facilities Insurance Services, Inc (IFIS) today launches a specialized workers compensation insurance offering for the wind and solar industry.

Designed to address the increasingly complex challenge of providing employees with effective yet practical operational protection, the coverage meets the needs of project owners, developers, engineers and manufacturers working onsite.

As part of the policy, renewable energy employers can now incorporate multiple projects, in multiple North American states, into a single overarching policy.  This significantly reduces the operational and administrative headache that is so often associated with managing workers compensation programs.

“Over the past twelve months, tackling the challenge of managing and protecting an increasingly diverse renewable energy workforce has become an expensive and complex operational undertaking,” said Natasha Johnson, Liability Underwriter, GCube.

“Typically underwritten in conjunction with a General Liability agreement, the wind and solar workers compensation policy helps solve this problem, providing both employer and employee with a practical comprehensive and affordable solution.”

The collaborative venture has been developed and backed by GCube in conjunction with Tower Group, Inc., an insurer rated A- by A.M. Best and admitted in 49 US states and Washington, DC.

“GCube has been writing General Liability policies for many years in North America – developing and refining the service as the wind and solar markets develop and mature,” said John McLane, President, GCube.

“However, as the market demands continue to evolve, we felt it necessary to enhance our workers compensation package, to ensure that we offered the most comprehensive General Liability portfolio.  This, when combined with our solid international track record within the wind and solar markets, ensures that we can continue to safeguard and protect the renewable energy workforce of tomorrow.”

Gary S. Maier, Executive Vice President and Chief Underwriting Officer at Tower Group, Inc., added, “When it comes to renewable energy, GCube’s twenty-five year track record demonstrates that no one understands the market better.  Given the strength of our own product offering and our commitment to the wider workers compensation sector, this joint venture is a natural fit as we continue to respond to the needs of the marketplace.”
